Angle (L profile) · Weight calculator
L-shaped section; a is the horizontal leg, b the vertical leg.
The kg/m values in the EAS standard profile catalogue are calculated with 2.70. For sheet and plate the common 1050 alloy is 2.71.
Angle (L profile) weight calculation formula
L-shaped section; a is the horizontal leg, b the vertical leg.
L = length · ρ = density (g/cm³)
For profiles the volume is cross-section area × length; for sheet and plate it is width × length × thickness. The cross-section areas here come from the same geometry engine that draws the catalogue sections, verified against the kg/m values of 1,949 catalogue profiles.
Example: a 3000 × 1500 × 1 mm plate → 3 × 1.5 × 1 × 2.71 = 12.195 kg. For 234 pieces, 2,854 kg.
Results are theoretical; production tolerance, surface treatment (anodising/coating) and cutting allowance are not included.
